1829 – 1919 Esau Wilkes Creech

Esau Wilkes Creech, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Isaac Creech, was born in the State of Virginia, January 26, 1829.  He passed away suddenly at the home of his grandson, Garrett Creech, living near Central City, Nebraska, at 4:00 o’clock Sunday afternoon, November 23, 1919 at the unusual age of 90 years, 9 months and 28 days.  He had seemed to be in quite good health up to the time of his death and had been out in the yard on Sunday afternoon, when the summons came to him so suddenly.

After living for a time in Virginia, he removed to Illinois where he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Williams.  From Illinois they removed to Arkansas and from there to Kansas.  The last seven years of his life were spent near Central City, Nebraska.

His wife and some of his family preceded him in death.  There remain to mourn his loss, three sons, Fred Creech of Saratoga, WY; Lee Creech, of Scott’s Bluffs, NE; and John Wesley Creech, recently of Basin, WY.; four grandsons, Garrett, Grover, Aljron and Fay Creech of Central City.

Funeral services were conducted from the home of Garrett Creech on Tuesday afternoon, November 25, by O.W. Carrell, Pastor of the Friends Church of this city, and interment was made in the Central City Cemetery.
